According to Cortázar, time is like a bug that walks and walks. However, for others, like Borges, life lasts as long as an idea does. During the history of art, its major figures have tried to find an answer for aging. A comforting idea about the fleeting nature of things. This question is still relevant today.
Paula Fraile and Xuehka, or Xueh Magrini Troll, expose themselves to the world by means of experimentation. Both are storytellers. Through their stroke, they show the feminine gaze of the immigrant artist: contemplating the odd is like looking into oneself. They deal with these themes from our everyday experience; constantly challenging their role in society.
Intuitive and risky, Paula's painting features metaphors of flowers and water. The Spanish artist is attracted to change and movement. Her paintings are a result of the invention of a world of her own, based on the contemplation of the earthly world. Her work is autobiographical; her own history speaks through a language of oil.
Naïve and cheeky, Xuehka follows in the creative footsteps of her mother and grandmother as a female artist. Frida Kahlo is one of her greatest references in her lively cartoons, drawings and sketches. With a Quinian style, she approaches everyday and mundane situations. Through her expressive strokes and explosive touches of color, she philosophizes sharply on the absurdity of postmodernity.
"Finally Señoras" celebrates the passing of time with humor and embraces adulthood, friendship, sisterhood and love. Both Xuehka and Paula create new rituals. This show will be a rite of passage into adulthood as creative women, companions and artists. The vibrant color of both is elevated through emotion and movement. An allusion to rejuvenating force in the face of inexorable aging. Color is a revelation of inner pathos.
The show muses ironically about maturity and the process from young woman to lady (or "señora"). A show about the perception of the "I" at a crucial moment of change. The insightful vision of the artists opens up a range of questions. What does it mean to be a rebellious woman in our time? Where are we going? Is it possible to reach 35 without offspring?
The person is the result of a forgotten past, of a dialogue that persists. The mystery of time makes one the same throughout time. Why? because time is identity. "The wrinkles of the face are the traces of the great passions, of the vices, of the knowledge that visited us when we were not at home."
Para Cortázar, el tiempo es como un bicho que anda y anda. Sin embargo, para otros como Borges, la vida dura lo que una idea. A lo largo de la historia del arte sus protagonistas han intentado encontrar una respuesta al envejecimiento, una idea reconfortante sobre la fugacidad de las cosas. Esta indagación ha pervivido hasta nuestros días.
Experimentar el mundo significa exponerte a él. Tanto Paula Fraile como Xuehka, o Xueh Magrini Troll son narradoras de historias. A través de su trazo muestran la mirada femenina de la artista inmigrante, porque contemplar lo extraño es mirarse a uno mismo. Tratan estos temas desde lo cotidiano, el cuerpo, la naturaleza; cuestionándose constantemente su papel en la sociedad.
Intuitiva y arriesgada, la pintura de Paula es metáfora de flores y agua. La artista española se siente atraída por el cambio y el movimiento. Su pintura es resultado de la invención de un mundo propio, a partir de la contemplación del mundo terrenal. Su trabajo es autobiográfico: su propia historia habla mediante el lenguaje al óleo.
Naif y descarada, Xuehka sigue los pasos creativos de su madre y su abuela. En sus dibujos y sketches capta un sentimiento, no la perfección. Al estilo quiniano, la colombiana plantea situaciones mundanas que cobran vida a través de sus expresivos trazos y explosivos toques de color, donde filosofa sobre lo absurdo de la posmodernidad con agudeza.
“Finally señoras” celebra el paso del tiempo con humor y abraza la adultez, la amistad, la sororidad y el amor. Tanto Xuehka como Paula crean rituales nuevos. Esta muestra será el rito de iniciación que de paso a su adultez como mujeres creadoras, compañeras y artistas. El color vibrante de ambas brota de la emoción y del movimiento, una alusión directa a la fuerza rejuvenecedora que hace frente al envejecimiento inexorable. El color se convierte en una revelación del pathos interior.
El show ironiza sobre la madurez y el proceso de mujer joven a “señora”. Se trata de una muestra sobre la percepción del “yo” en un momento de cambio crucial. La mirada perspicaz de las artistas abre un abanico de preguntas. ¿Qué significa ser mujer rebelde en nuestro tiempo? ¿Hacia dónde nos dirigimos? Se puede llegar a los 35 sin descendencia?
El tiempo es la perplejidad esencial. La persona es el resultado de un pasado olvidado, de un diálogo que persiste. El misterio del tiempo hace que una sea la misma a lo largo del tiempo, porque el tiempo es identidad. “Las arrugas del rostro son las huellas de las grandes pasiones, de los vicios, de los conocimientos que nos visitaron cuando nosotros no estábamos en casa”.
